This photo was taken this morning as I prepared my protein for breakfast. Since the eggs were graded “medium,” I decided to cook three instead of my normal two. By appearances, it looks as though I am preparing four eggs. One was a double yoke egg. OK…here is the deal. It is the cusp of2018 and we are all wishing one another a happy and prosperous new year (prospero año y felizidad). According to legends a double yoked egg can mean one of several things:1. You are going to have good luck2. You are going to have twins3. You are going to become pregnant 4. You are going to DIE.Analyzing the options, it is not looking good for me at the moment. Ignoring #2 as a warning that arrived 38 years TOO LATE, and figuring #3 would be another Abraham and Sarah event or worse, that leaves me two possibilities. Just in case #1 is correct, I am leaving now to purchase a Powerball ticket for tomorrow night’s drawing, which currently is $337 million. If that works out, you most likely will not see me on FB for a few days! If I don’t win, that leaves me with option #4. PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE READ THIS AT MY SERVICE…just to lighten the mood a bit!
VISION
- To express the heart of God in the way I manage my money
VALUES
- To always remember God owns it all
- To share my possessions with one another in the Body of Christ
- To demonstrate compassion and mercy for those Jesus died for by giving my money to see their needs met
PRIORITIES
- Always act honestly concerning money
- See the Church of Jesus Christ advanced (home and abroad)
- See the needs of my family met as part of the church
- To effectively manage my money so that it will facilitate the greatest possible benefit to the Kingdom of Christ
- Live in financial freedom instead of bondage (no one owns me but God)
PRACTICES
- Give generously and regularly to my local church
- Give generously as God directs to other needs in the Body of Christ
- Only buy what I can afford (in other words, avoid bad debt) and practice saying NO to something every day
- Maintain a solid Christian witness by paying my bills on time
- Save and invest some money regularly so emergencies won’t control me
- Pray about spending and keeping my priorities straight according to the instruction in the Bible
- Plan well for the future, but trust only in God each day
- Demonstrate a heart of generosity with my family
- Don’t worry about giving my children and inheritance that would probably hinder them anyway
- If I find myself in financial bondage, seek help and heed Godly instruction that will lead me back to freedom
- Enjoy the abundance of God to me and my family
- Be willing to give Godly, Biblical financial counsel to anyone who desires it
