Waffles are so simple, and yet so good. After thousands of waffles, and many different mixes and recipes, here's what I recommend:
Use the regular Bisquick biscuit mix (not the Bisquick pancake mix). Get an airtight container, as you see in this picture. Cut out the recipe from the Bisquick box and tape it to the container, and on a piece of masking tape, write the expiration date and tape it to the lid. Keep that same container...very easy and very practical. Personally, I like my old Sunbeam waffle iron with the small pattern waffles rather than the more popular big pattern Belgian ones.
Use the waffle recipe on the box, with one exception: Use buttermilk instead of sweet milk. If the batter is a bit stiff, just add a very little bit more of the buttermilk. Be sure and add the "optional" egg, as well. I use Canola oil, but whatever you have is fine.
Spray your iron lightly with some non-stick spray.
The result will be terrific, fresh made waffles that are SO MUCH better than Eggos! No comparison, really, and they are easy to make and easy to clean up. No excuses for using frozen waffles.
