Confusing Things

Evertime I travel I wonder about the activity they call: Pre-boarding. How can you "board" before you board?? Wouldn't early boarding make alot more sense?

I'm not sure what I just read, but it may be profound. Then again, it may be pure nonsense...in fact, I'm sure of it...it is nonsense.
