“Dodger Blue” should be the title of a sad song by the late
Hank Williams. “Have you ever seen a Dodger weep when Nats begin to fly…it
seems they just can’t win it all…they’re so lonesome they could cry.” It has been 1988 since Blue won the World
Series (they’ve lost a couple). In that time the Yankees have won 5, the Giants
(hated rivals) have won 3 fall classics, as have the Red Sox. The St. Louis
Cardinals have won 2, and even the Royals and Dbacks have won a World Series
since the tinsel town boys raised a banner.
Tommy Lasorda was still the skipper in 1988. They have spent a gazillion dollars for all
kinds of star talent to buy their way to the top, and still nada…no bueno! It isn’t the manager (though some decisions have
been curious….pitching wise). Heck..A.J. Hinch was awful in Arizona, and he is
gold plated in Houston. It is the
players who win or lose. Having said that, the Dodgers have had the talent to
win, so why have they not closed the deal? One reason…
THE CURSE OF THE DBACKS POOL! The Dodgers never should have celebrated a divisional win in 2013 by playing in, and some say, peeing in the Diamondbacks pool…they’ve been snake bitten (pun intended) ever since. And the curse continues!!
