Thoughts On Quarantine During These STRANGE Days

There are benefits of quarantine, social distancing, self-isolating, or working from home. All you have to do is embrace the reality and make some choices. If you are home schooling…it will drastically reduce the choices you have time for.
  • No reason to not French press, aero-press, or use whatever “coffee snob” brewing method you choose.  So it takes a few more minutes…you aren’t going anywhere.
  • Meditation is a reasonable and enjoyable engagement.
  • Don’t have to wear a watch
  • Read!  Anything you have an interest in.
  • Write!  Anything you have an interest in (like this piece I am writing now). Start a blog, if you are so inclined.  Start with one page.  Write your life story…or someone in your family.
  • Sleep when you are sleepy, and work when you are awake. What time it is makes no difference.
  • Your brain has time to be creative during extended quiet times.
  • Re-introduce yourself to the short people (kids) living with you. Learn something new about them each day.
  • Read a Proverb each morning and a Psalm each evening (or mix it up to suit you)
  • De-clutter your living space, including your closets, cabinets and pantry.
  • Self-educate in an area of interest. All you need is the internet to do that. Watch a few
  • YouTube videos on things like:
    • Cattle ranching
    • Making biscuits from scratch. Don’t buy everything already prepared.
    • Horse/mustang training (great insights here for just living)
    • A second (or third) language
    • How things are made:  stuffed olives, for example
    • Women in American history…who overcame, or had uncommon courage
    • What makes a successful family
    • Drug cartels on our southern border. Listen to interviews with people who live on the border…they have very differing views.
    • Bolshevik revolution…from a monarchy to social/soviet democracy
    • Listen to a great volume or series on audio books
    • You Can’t Make This Up, by Al Michaels (for sports fans)
    • Killers of the Flower Moon (Osage murders in Oklahoma)
    • ENDLESS topics

OK…get the point?  This is a starter list…to jump start your thinking and your creativity.  The next EIGHT WEEKS could be the most enjoyable, and productive time you have ever spent.  The choice is yours.
