Racism is a huge ball of twine with many ends sticking out. Which one to pull to unravel the thing is seemingly impossible to determine. There are so many aspects to the issue that simple statements indicating that "this" is the problem all fall short of addressing the situations. My own definition of "racism" also has it's limitations, but it is what I work and think from: "Race based thoughts and actions that wound people emotionally, harm people physically, and cause breakdowns in human relationships." For me the answer is quite simple: "Love your neighbor as yourself..." Jesus Christ. Working that out seems to be monumental! I don't know all the answers, but I do know that starting young, and breaking down the color, ethnic & cultural barriers is a good start. Education is multifaceted. This photo of the daughter of some of my dearest friends, shows that there is no substitute for real life education when it comes to breaking the chains of things like "racism." It starts here!
